In-Person Workshop

Beginning Italic with Marcy Robinson

This beginner workshop is a perfect introduction to the fundamentals of the italic alphabet.

During the 2 classes, we will begin to examine the letterforms of the upper and lower case with time for in-class practice. Over the weeks, we will begin to examine variations in order to expand the student’s repertoire. We will review the basic elements of calligraphic design, discussing the dos and don’ts of flourishing.

There will also be demonstrations on the kinds of papers, pens, gouaches and inks that may be used. Bring lots of questions! Intermediate level students who wish to refine their letterforms are also welcome.
