Blackapella

Watch as Eduardo films his raw and spontaneous blackletter practice, featuring the Handwritmic Brody Neuenschwander Ruling Pen.

Eduardo uses the following materials:

  • 300g Fabriano Black Smooth 24×32cm

  • A clean sheet of paper to protect the fine paper of your hand's grease

  • Winsor & Newton Permanent White Gouache diluted with water

  • Round brush to mix the gouache with the water and fill the pen (number 10 works for me)

  • A ruling pen to make a capital letter (he specifically uses the Handwritmic standard Ruling pen but you can even make one yourself! https://eduairet.com/diy-ruling-pen)

  • Different sizes of broad-edged pens to make some variations:

    • modified Gillott 303 for extra fine details (the point is squared by sanding)

    • two Brause nibs for the rest of the letters (1½mm and 3mm)
